Timeouts and Other Issues

Dear Users-

Between the hours of 9pm and 9am EST, the PrayAbout site has been experiencing major lag times in the processing of pages. Between midnight and 3am EST, the site virtually freezes. 

We are currently working on fixing this issue.

Also, we have learned that the original code language we chose for the site does not scale well and has many limitations.  We are planning to overhaul the entire site and re-write it in a more stable code language. This process will take several months, but in the end this process will create a better user experience.

In the meantime, please report any issues you encounter to helpfulpeople@prayabout.com.

Volunteer Approval Suspended

Due to the ongoing issues with the volunteer approval process, we have suspended this feature until further notice.

Unable to post images- Issue resolved

This issue has been resolved. Users may begin uploading images to their prayer requests again.Thanks for your patience as we worked to get this problem fixed.

Site running slowly

Dear Users-

We are aware that the site has been acting up over the weekend. Not only had it been running slowly, but many of you have received error messages. We’ve made some adjustments this morning and things are running smoother. Thank you for your continued patience as we work to improve the site. Candles going out

Dear Users-

Many of you have reported missing candles on your prayer request. We believe this is due to an error in our system that keeps your candles burning until another user tries to light candles for you. As the new candles are lit, the old ones all go out at the same time. This morning, we rolled out what we hope will be a permanent solution to this problem. 

We understand that many of you were negatively affected by having your candles flames extinguished. If you write in to helpfulpeople@prayabout.com, we will happily credit your lost candles to your account.

If an issue such as this occurs in the future, please alert the PrayAbout staff.

Site will be down 3-4pm the afternoon of 7/14

Dear PrayAbout users-

We believe we have finally fixed the issues with Internet Explorer on the site. Now all we have to do is push the fix live. This will cause some disturbance in your being able to access the site between 3pm and 4pm EST on Monday afternoon. I will keep you posted via the blog on any new developments.

Problems with Posting

Dear Users-

Some of you have had continued issues posting responses on our site. We believe the issue is related to PrayAbout’s interaction with Internet Explorer. If you have been receiving pop-ups asking you to save your files instead of them being posted, please try to access the site with a different browser. An example would be Firefox. 

If you continue to experience problems with the other browsers, please email us with as much detail as you can. Include a screen shot of the issue if possible. We need all of your help in getting the site back in tip-top shape.

We have narrowed the problem of saving files down to an issue between Internet Explorer 6.0/ 7.0 and the PrayAbout site. If you are one of the users who has been experiencing issues posting responses, please try to use a different browser, like Firefox. A big push on the site’s speed

In the past, prayabout users have experienced issues with web pages timing out. This would cause all sorts of issues, from loss of prayer requests and candles to being logged out of a session. over the past two weeks, prayabout’s development team spent a lot of time working to improve the loading time of each page.

Today we pushed these improvements live. The time it took to light a candle has decreased by 15 seconds. We’re really pleased with the new speed of the site and we hope that you are too. Let us know what you think by emailing us at helpfulpeople@prayabout.com.

User Agreement

Before anyone on the site may create an account, they must not only agree to the site’s terms and conditions, but also to the following which appears in a text box in the middle of the screen:

-Treat every member with respect

-No advertising or other spam, hateful or rude content will appear in your prayer requests or responses

- You must review and approve 2 requests before yours will be posted

These rules were created in order for the community to monitor itself. PrayAbout is a place for people to come and commune with others, a place where people can be vulnerable and ask for help. Please do not ruin it for everyone else by posting inappropriate content.
